Campus

How should we adapt? This question one of the fundamental questions we ask every day. It could also be applied to architecture. How should a building adapt to landscape, culture, history, context and time. In the current state of continuous fluctuating world, a single model does not work like the modernist advocated. Education has also shifted from one extreme to another but the architectural model, campus design, has not changed much. From subdividing majors to adaptable interdisciplinary study model, education has adopted to collaborate with others to be more creative and fused to meet the fluid knowledge. However, the campus design in still following the “quad” model without considering the context and planned to accommodated all the programs without the relationship of the programs. Shouldn’t we find a new model of educational facility to adapt to the changing context in learning? Why can’t architecture have a fluid model to accept the change?
